Sheriff Richards Jones on Immigration
Class Description
Richard Jones is known throughout Southwest Ohio as the no-nonsense Sheriff of Butler County.
In dealing with crime, Sheriff Jones minces no words. He is dedicated to protecting Butler County residents, and they have shown their support by re-electing him six times.
Sheriff Jones — along with 4 other jurisdictions in Ohio and Kentucky — has joined the 287G Program, which allows him to detain illegal immigrants in the Butler County Correctional Complex until ICE takes them into custody for further processing.
Sheriff Jones will discuss the process of housing illegal immigrants under ICE’s deportation rules, including how they know who to detain, where they are detained, and length of detention. He will address concerns about terrorism, sanctuary cities, what is happening throughout Ohio and neighboring states on immigration and deportation, and much more. With his no-nonsense attitude, Sheriff Jones is an entertaining speaker and we welcome him to EmpowerUAmerica!
Speaker Bio
After completing military service, Sheriff Jones took a position as a Corrections Officer with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, achieving the ranks of Senior Captain and Major.
He then served as Major at the Lebanon Correctional Institute, and as Chief Deputy of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. During his twelve-year tenure as the Butler County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, he orchestrated acquiring more deputies for patrol. He has worked hard to help make more jail cells available to lock up more criminals and increase the productivity and efficiency of the office through computer automation.
Sheriff Jones earned an Associates Degree in Corrections from Hocking Technical College, a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justic from Wilmington College, and a Master’s Degree in Corrections from Xavier University. He is currently serving his 5th term as sheriff of Butler County.
